Born from a passion for the ocean and a desire to bring women together, Swell Society offers more than surf retreats; it’s a space where women of all backgrounds can connect, grow, and step out of their comfort zones. Through surf meet ups, community events, and transformative retreats, we inspire confidence, celebrate individuality, and foster lifelong friendships.
Beyond the waves, our mission extends to supporting local communities, funding free surf lessons for women, and contributing to impactful organisations like Bali Street Mums and SurfAid. Swell Society is a movement built on kindness, empowerment, and the belief that by uplifting each other, we can create waves of positive change.

Swell Society is a female surf community for women, by women, all about supporting each other in and out of the water. We’re Marney and Romy, two best friends and keen surfers who started this passion project in early 2024.
Back then, we were living in Sri Lanka, surfing every day, and realising how much we missed having a crew of like-minded women to share waves with, cheer each other on, and connect on a deeper level. That’s how Swell Society was born – a fun, laid-back space where women of all ages, backgrounds, and board sizes
can feel welcome, encouraged, and inspired.
What started as casual surf meet-ups in Sri Lanka has grown into a thriving community with exciting plans ahead. Starting in 2025, we’ll be based in Indonesia, hosting weekly meet-ups, all-women surf retreats, and free events, all while creating opportunities for local women to learn, grow, and thrive.
